Finish More Music, Grow Your Brand And Become a Professional Musician.

If you want to make the most dramatic progress possible, in terms of quality & quantity output as well as brand growth & career traction, then you absolutely must have a coach

If you’re anything like everyone else you know you love music like the air you breathe but what if you’re not making progress as fast and far as you’d hoped?

Do you have dusty download folders all over your hard drive, you’re not finishing as much music as you want, and if you are finishing, no one is really listening?

You listen to your heroes and say "Why doesn’t my music sound like THAT?" and your passion for music is turning to poison for your self esteem when you look at the results you’re not getting.

It’s ok to feel that stuff, we all go through it, and trust me: I know it sucks.

The Producer Dojo Membership is my workflow

It’s my way of showing you how to literally REMIX YOUR LIFE

Once I figured out my own workflow I HAD to share it - I created names for all of my techniques and started mentoring people and teaching workshops. I love teaching workshops. It’s a great experience for everyone involved and for the small percentage of people who are already disciplined musicians just going to workshops or watching training videos is enough.

But the other 99% of people who don’t already have that career momentum, need a little push to get it all started. It’s ok to be in that 99% of the population. I was once one of those 99%. There’s no shame in it. Nobody is born with a record released already.

After realizing this truth I knew that I had to take it further than just doing workshops. I wanted to create an ideal environment to really change people’s lives and make a difference in the world. I decided that I was going to create 1000 music careers, and that I was going to create the Producer Dojo to accomplish my goal.

Over years of producing with top names in the business I learned what it takes to be successful and over the years of teaching I learned how and why so many producers fail to meet their goals.

At the end of the day there is one factor that separates the successful producers from broken dreamers: output.

Content is king.

If you're not finishing music and releasing it, then it’s just an interest - it doesn’t define you. Your output is who you are as a musician. Without the proof in your pudding it’s all just a bunch of talk isn’t it?

I studied psychology at the University of Toronto and I learned a lot about what makes people stick to their goals. I’d like to draw your attention to some particularly relevant research. At Dominican University in California they found three magic tweaks that, when used together, were able to more than DOUBLE the rate at which participants achieved their personal goals, regardless whether they were fitness, creative, or whatever else.

These three factors used together are how I have been able to Remix My Life, finally getting regular with working out, finally quitting drinking, quitting nicotine, writing in my journal daily and doing timer beats every single day. Using these factors together makes discipline a no-brainer and the entire Dojo is built around this.

These three factors are:

  1. Turning goals into an Action Plan and formally committing to a series of deadlines.
  2. Creating Third Party Accountability for the deadlines in the Action Plan Accountability
  3. Updates with the Third Party, ideally on a weekly basis.

I could tell you that buying my products is a magic bullet producer pill that will take you to the next level, because at one level it IS. But at the end of the day you still have to put the work in. That discipline of finishing music regularly has to come from you. You HAVE to finish music regularly to make progress as a musician. There is no other way. It’s like when you’re playing a video game and you want to level up, you don’t get the XP until you kill the monster. If you want to level up you HAVE to finish music regularly.

Music schools want to hide this truth from you. They want to pretend that all you have to do is completely absorb and regurgitate all of the information they have selected and they’ll keep stringing you along until you jump through all of their hoops. I call it the bulimic model of education because it’s just as unhealthy for your mind as bulimia is for your body.

This is why a HUGE portion of my ninjas start out saying: “Hey Dylan, I’ve just graduated from DubSpot (or whatever) and I know what all the knobs do but I still haven’t finished anything I’m proud of.”

The diplomas that you get from these schools are just paper. What are you going to say “Hi, I graduated from DubSpot, here’s a jpeg of my diploma, come follow my empty SoundCloud with no tracks on it.” That is 100% not how the music industry works and anyone who tells you otherwise is just lying to you to get your money.

At the end of the day it is musicians teaching musicians the ways of the trade. It is that one on one training, working together, collabing, focusing on output… that has always been and always will be what really gets results.

The entire Producer Dojo was built on this approach and that’s why Producer Dojo is the absolute best possible place you can go to learn and grow your career.

That’s why I created The Producer Dojo Membership. It’s my way of showing you how to literally REMIX YOUR LIFE.

It’s a program unlike ANYTHING out there because we actually hold your hand through the entire learning process.  Let me break it down for you:

ill.GATES HAS BEEN FEATURED ON:

Producer Dojo is the best thing I have ever done. Releasing chart topping music, traveling all over the world, setting the record for the most sets at a single Burning Man, selling out solo headline shows, playing for crowds of 10000 and even 15,000 people at once, meeting Bill Gates, selling my farts to Microsoft, making ringtones for the Windows Phone, getting a visa to move to the USA, making and releasing 5 studio albums, making official music for Star Wars -  that stuff was all cool but these were just MY accomplishments. These just furthered my OWN ends. It was fun and it felt good to accomplish these things, I loved the validation of it, but there’s a level at which these are selfish accomplishments born of ego and vanity.

I have touched lives with my art, but I TRANSFORM lives with Producer Dojo. There is a big difference in how it feels. It's satisfying at a whole other level and I am HOOKED!

This is why the slogan of Producer Dojo is
“Remix Your Life”.
I really, truly mean that shit from the bottom of my soul.

“Success” in music isn’t just about ticking all the boxes, it is about BECOMING WHO YOU ARE.

This is a much deeper transformation than most people think - and it does take effort - but it’s not magic, it’s not impossible, and with the right friends it’s actually a whole lot of fun. In fact it is the single most fun and rewarding thing a music lover can do with their time. You have to step outside your comfort zone, you have to be ruthlessly honest with yourself, you have to make a lot of mistakes along the way, but it is more deeply satisfying than anything else in life ever.
Remixing Your Life feels better than sex.

I could tell you that being a successful musician will change the way people look at you.

I could tell you it will make you friends and get you laid. I could tell you that it feels good to have people drop your name and all that shit but you already know that and frankly: those are shallow, ego stroking benefits. Promising you all of that would be cheap and disingenuous.

If you talk to successful musicians who are lifers, who are not in it for ego or short term gain they will tell you that becoming rich or famous for its own sake is a hollow victory. It is not nearly as satisfying, validating or life affirming as knowing that you have REALLY touched someone’s life.

It is often said that ‘music is medicine’ and the record label I release on ‘Muti’ is based on that philosophy. “Muti” means medicine in Afrikaans (The Muti founder, Dov, is South African).

One of the TRUE highlights of my entire career happened last year after a show I headlined in Denver. After I was done taking selfies with all the fans, this shy, shirtless young man named John politely tapped me shoulder and had tears in his eyes as he told me that he was working through a family tragedy. For some reason he couldn’t explain, he found that my music specifically was what helped him process his emotions. He told me that he danced all night and cried tears of joy on the dance floor. He told me that my music was his happy place and all he wanted was for me to take a photo with him and share his story.

In that one moment all of the years of struggle were instantly validated at the deepest level. It was suddenly worth all those years of being poor, keeping it real and putting all of those complex grey area emotions into my music that get in the way of ‘making hits’. There’s nothing wrong with writing music in major scales, or having the main emotion being new year’s eve confetti and fireworks. The world needs all kinds of music and if that’s what you want to make don’t think i’m judging you on it or anything. But for ME personally it validated the entire journey, scary feelings and all.

I told KJ Sawka about this because he is one of my best friends and I love him dearly.  And he had some interesting thoughts about it. For those that don’t know KJ Sawka is easily the best drummer in all of EDM. He is the drummer for Pendulum, Destroid, Emancipator and Illenium. He has platinum records on the wall in his studio, but he’s also a drummer and we all know that drummers are the most unsung heroes of any band. Everyone wants a photo with the lead singer and only the real heads can truly appreciate the drummer. So KJ is crazy famous to those who care. He’s up on a pedestal like Q-Bert is for turntablists, but he doesn’t have a robot arm or an eye patch or anything so most people don’t look at him and say ‘holy shit! A famous person!

Anyway: KJ had some really incredible words for me that have really stuck with me all year. He said this:

“Even if you’re only famous to one person, then you’re famous… to that person”

It blew me away. He is so RIGHT.

When you talk to real musicians like KJ  they will tell you that making a REAL difference to even one person’s life feels better than having ten million people care that you’re a Kardashian.

Making that difference to one person is a totally achievable goal, even as a hobbyist.

Imagine how it feels to have someone tell you that your song is their alarm clock.

Imagine how it feels to have someone tell you that your mix gets them going at the gym.

Imagine how it feels to know you made it onto someone’s sexytime playlist.

Imagine how it feels to watch someone from another country make a dance video to your song.

Imagine seeing that someone took the time to learn to play your song on the ukulele, or sing a cover version on YouTube.

Imagine you made a wedding playlist.

Imagine your song played at a funeral.

Even if you’re only famous to one person, then you really are famous… to that person.

If THAT matters to you, then YOU are the reason I created The Producer Dojo Membership.

Real musicians know that music literally is medicine for the soul. We use it to heal and to get high. Music is the drug. No amount of record sales will compare to the feeling of knowing you've given this world the medicine it so badly needs.

Alright, so now onto the bittersweet part…

Many very talented musicians have recognized that Producer Dojo is THE place to learn, grow and get paid as a musician. Our first ‘Remix Your Life’ opportunity last year really took off and we only have so many Senseis to take on one on one coaching.

If I was greedy I could keep it open and make as much money as possible, but this isn’t where I’m trying to make money. I make all the money I need playing gigs and doing commercial work for clients, you’ve seen my studio.

This is why I’m not selling you pie in the sky bullshit like all of the other guys. The Producer Dojo is my passion project. I do it because of how it feels, not because of how much money it makes.

I pay my Senseis a living wage. I pay my support staff a living wage. I pay my web designers a living wage. Hosting is really expensive, advertising can cost more than my rent.

$59 a month is NOTHING for what you get in Producer Dojo. Most top music teachers charge $100/hr for video lessons ALONE. The Weekly Download is a SHOCKING value for $5 a week.

To not only get a full hour of one-on-one coaching each month, but also The Weekly Download Archives, access to The Green Room, all my workshops, the chance to interact with me every week on The Weekly Download LIVE, the chance to request class topics… it is absolutely INSANE that this costs only $59 a month.

$59 a month is less than $15 a week. $15 a week is like one lunch. $15 is FAR less than a tank of gas. $15 a week is less than a cell phone bill. $15 is half a t-shirt.

And if you pay for the year, it’s only $500. That’s a savings of $208! And you’ll get The EDM Cookbook as a bonus saving you an additional $50. And if you get started now, you’ll get 4 of my workshops absolutely free, saving you an additional $110.

This the cheapest the opportunity to Remix Your Life will ever be. This is your chance. Take it now or regret it forever.

I’m that confident you’ll be satisfied. You have literally nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

So this is it. This is your chance. This is the moment to take charge of your life and forge the path to your dream. I’ve done all the hard work to discover the formula here, it’s all just a lifestyle design recipe waiting for the chef to add the ‘secret ingredient’.

So what is every top chef’s secret ingredient?

Want to take a guess?

It’s not garlic or salt… it’s love.

Right now you have a choice between fear and love. It’s up to you.

I’m not going to promise you that paying me money guarantees you a career. It guarantees you the best possible path, with the best possible team to help you out, but we can’t write your music for you.

Only you can write your music. Only you can BECOME WHO YOU ARE.

Real art, real music, real progress comes from a place of love. They don’t call it ‘playing’ music because it sucks. It’s called ‘playing’ because that’s what it is. It is a joyful exploration of sound possibilities  born out of a love of music.

You can embrace that love, make music your joy, and play from your heart.

OR

You can fear your dream won’t live up to your expectations. You can fear making mistakes. You can fear sticking out from the herd. You can fear being judged by others…

I’ll let you in on one last secret: you never have to fear what other people think about your music.

Nobody is born with records out already. Nobody is born knowing how to make music. Nobody is born with a magical gift. It’s not magic. I’m not special. I’m just a guy who chose love long ago and poured his heart into making music. Sure some people judged me because of my clothes, or hair, or music but guess what: it doesn’t matter to me and it should matter to you.

If someone judges you negatively because of your taste or musical ability they’re a shallow piece of shit with garbage in their soul so you shouldn’t care what they think.

If you’re going to judge people then judge them on their compassion. Judge them on how caring and thoughtful they are. Judge them on their deeds and the content of their character, not the genes they were born with, how much money they have, the way they look, their taste in music, the gender they are attracted to or any of that other shallow bullshit. Their judgement is born of fear, ego, and small minded bullshit. It doesn’t matter. Those people don’t matter. You never have to give a single flying fuck what they think ever. That’s the truth and it’s my parting gift to you.
